The 2006 Pocono Cup "Club" Division Soccer Tournament went off with out a hitch. The weather was perfect and every game was started and finished on time. The coaches and parents should be congratulated for all their hard work and effort to get the kids prepared. And prepared they were. During the course of the 235 games, action was seen all over the place. The competition was great and the excitement was even better. Very few games were left with more than a 3-0 finish. Some age divisions were so close they had to be decided by the 4th and final tie-breaker (penalty kicks) to qualify for the playoffs. All the teams should be congratulated for their hard work and commitment to the game. The 2006 May Tournament also marked the start of an "A" division bracket. This is the first in 20 years that we decided to offer this level of play. We have typically reserved this weekend for the mid to low or "B" division teams to isolate this level competition. We were still able to do that with the addition of a third field site and maintaining the selection process. Over the years, high division teams (but not quite Premier) could never play in this event due to their high rankings in league play. Those teams would come to the Pocono Cup Premier in July and struggle. Now we offer a division for them and in the very first year had enough teams to call it a success. We are now very proud to offer an all round "Club" tournament that can play host to "A" level and "B" level club teams wishing to improve. Thank you for a start of a new tradition.
